This section is intended to serve as a guide to what prices may be considered reasonable (or at least typical) for the more commonly available Dirty Pair collectibles. Prices mentioned here are those seen in retail stores, on-line auction sites, and the newsgroup rec.arts.anime.marketplace. (Prices at anime conventions can be much higher.)

More exotic items, such as those displayed in the "Hall of Curiosities", will not be discussed here, as they tend to trade at whatever price is set by private agreement.

No particular store will be endorsed here, but I am willing to help out if I'm aware of places selling items of interest to you (or I can help you look around).

The 1985 Bandai "Lovely Gals" Collection #1 and #2

These figures are becoming a bit more difficult to find, but a couple stores with sites on the Web are still offering them at prices around $60-100 each. However, sets of both figures have sold on eBay during 2000-01 for anywhere from $45-90. (While often described as "rare", I've seen about forty sets come up for auction in the past year.) Interestingly, as individual figures, "Kei" tends to be offered more frequently, while "Yuri" tends to fetch somewhat higher prices.

The 1992 and 1994 Streamline Pictures English "dubs"

With Streamline now officially defunct, these tapes are no longer available by retail and I haven't seen them offered in on-line stores lately. Because they were available commercially, I have seen copies turn up at "used media" shops occasionally (I was able to pick up "Nolandia" for $8 in 1999, and just missed "EDEN" at the same price). These tapes do still turn up frequently at eBay and yahoo.auctions.com and have generally been sold for $8-13.

All seven Dirty Pair Flash tapes (1998-9)

ADV has begun its re-release of DPF on DVDs. "Mission 1" is being offered on a single disc for $30 retail; the best on-line price spotted so far is $21 at www.express.com (28 Dec. 2000); a few have even turned up on eBay already.

Consequently, these tapes are no longer being stocked by retail or on-line stores. However, they turn up on eBay and yahoo.auctions.com pretty regularly (mostly, the dubbed tapes) and have typically sold for $7-12 each or $30-45 for the full set.

The five 1994 Viz Communications versions (English language) of the Sunrise Animation Film Comic adaptations of five "Classic" Dirty Pair episodes

These are out-of-print and have now pretty much disappeared from comic book stores. Individual copies have traded on eBay and r.a.a.m., usually for $4-5 each (the cover price is $4.95). I have seen complete sets sold on eBay frequently in 2000, where they have gone for $13-22.

Four cloisonne (enameled) pins: for scale, the full figure pins are about 2 inches (5 cm.) tall

These pins have now been pretty much cleared out of retail and on-line stores' inventory. They have occasionally turned up on eBay, where the set of four last sold in March of 2001 for about $31; individual pins of late have gone for up to $9.50.

I won't reproduce all the covers here for the Adam Warren comix here. All of the individual issues from the long-gone Eclipse Comics house (Dirty Pair [Biohazards] and Dirty Pair II [Dangerous Acquaintances]) and the Dark Horse series, except the recent (2000) Run From The Future, are out of print. Nevertheless, they turn up regularly on eBay or newsgroups and can typically be gotten for $1.50-2.00 an issue.

The Dark Horse compilations (trade paperbacks or TPBs) of all the stories can still be found in retail comic book stores and on-line, with cover prices in the $13-14 range. However, they are also usually to be found on eBay and can often be purchased for as little as $5 each.

The English translation from 1987, by David Lewis, of the first story and interlude from Daatipea no Daibouken is a small-format paperback [4 x 6 in. (11 x 15 cm.)] of 160 pages -- ISBN4-06-186030-5. As of March 2001, I have learned that it is no longer in print. I mention this one because I have seen it sell on eBay for as high as $102.50(!), but it is probably not reasonable to bid more than $15-20 for it presently.

For those of you interested in the novels in Japanese, the prices I have been quoted for them in March of 2001 are

DP1 -- Daatipea no Daibouken:
DP2 -- Daatipea no Daigyakuten:
DP3 -- Daatipea no Dairansen:
DP4 -- Daatipea no Daidassou: [all are in print and available in regular paperback format for $7-9 each]
DP5 -- Dokusaisha no Isan:
DPF1 -- Tenshi no Yuutsu:
DPF2 -- Tenshi no Hohoemi:
DPF3 -- Tenshi no Itazura:
